Using the Trellis Feature to Get the Top N of a Sub-Category
A useful feature in Domo bar charts is to enable the trellis chart feature to be able to show additional categories. This adds an additional dimension to you chart to allow you to show sub-categories within each main category. For example, you can display workers’ compensation claims by claim type and then further break down each claim type by body part.
If your sub-category list is quite numerous, you can focus in on the highest ones by using the “maximum bars” setting in the trellis settings. Based on the sorting properties, the card will limit the number of each sub-category by the number entered in the “maximum bars” setting. This will keep your card from looking overcrowded and can allow the viewer to focus on the main drivers in your dataset.
